Mallawi Regional Museum

Mallawi Regional Museum is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Mallawi. It comprises of two floors divided into four halls and located on the highway linking between Aswan and Cairo. The museum was established in 1963 to be a center for displaying the fragments, statues and pharaonic Monuments found in many areas such as Tuna El Gabal and Ashmonein. Mallawi Regional Museum encloses a marvelous collection of monuments dating back to the Greco- Roman period and many other periods. Worth admiration in the museum are the baboon and Ibis stone and bronze statues resembling Thuth, the god of wisdom in ancient Egypt and the finely decorated sarcophagi for these animals. Additionally, there are numerous canopic jars, Roman coins and some tools that were used by ancient Egyptians in their everyday life displayed in the 4th hall of the museum.
