This wooden model of a livestock census was found by the Metropolian Museum of Art among the grave tombs in the Tomb of Meketra in Deir al Bahari in Luxor . It dates back to late the Eleventh and early Twelfth Dynasty . The tomb's owner is shown seated in a colonnaded pavilion together with his son and four scribes recording the total number of the oxen and animals on a papyrus stretched out on their knees . Other men are shown before them holding sticks and pushing a herd of different animals dappled in different colors .
