Tomb of Horemheb

Horemheb was the "General of Generals of the Army" during the reigns of Tutankhamun and Ay. He ordered the works of his tomb before he occupied the throne as a Pharaoh after the death of King Ay. discovered in 1975, the Tomb of King Horemheb is located in the section of the Pyramid of Unas, in the Necropolis of Saqqara. It was not used, as Horemheb made another tomb in the Valley of the Kings, Tomb KV 57 in Luxor. Flanked by pillars, the entrance to the tomb is preceded by a paved forecourt. It leads into the first colonnaded court, which was surrounded by a wall 10ft/3m high. At the northwest corner of the court is a tomb shaft.
