El Salloum
El-Salloum is a city in the governorate of Matrouh, on the western borders with Libya. Mainly, Salloum is a Bedouin community and a cross-point that supplies both trucks and travelers between Libya and Egypt. During the Roman Period, it was named Baranis; and there are also some remains of a Roman settlement in the area. The city's major tourist attraction is the World War II Commonwealth war cemetery.
