This piece of jewel is a good example for the girdles used by women in ancient Egypt especially in the Middle Kingdom . It was discovered among the treasures of the tomb of princess Mereret . It is formed as a pair with a gold and amethyst anklet and the gold tiger heads are used to protect the wearer of this piece .
