This gold earring was discovered in the Tomb of Hormoheb in Saqqara that he established before ascending to throne . The center of the earring is adorned with a circle with a depiction of Hormoheb as a sphinx with the blue crown with uraeus serpent on the forehead . This sphinx with large usekh collar is designed in a way that resembles that used in the reign of Tutankhamun and it is assumed to be a gift from the pharaoh to Horemoheb who served as a general at that time . This earring is highly admired for the V-shaped motif of gold and blue glass paste that ornaments the area around the sphinx .
