The Palace of Qawsun lies in Sharia Manakh El-Waqf close to the Complex of Sultan Hasan . This palace was originally constructed by Emir Qawsun who was the husband of Sultan Hasan's daughter and he served as a Cupbearer in the days of Sultan Hasan. In the reign of Sultan Qaytbay , the palace was renovated by the prominent Emir Yashbak min Mahdi. The entrance of the palace is handsomely ornamented with dripping stalactites on the form of stars and harmoniously colored mosaic panels. The major part of this mosque is in ruins now but it is still worth visiting for the historical value it represents and for its portal that can be regarded as a good example for the style of decoration that was commonly used in the Mamluk Mosques and Madrasa.
