Dahshur is a necropolis situated 11 km to the south of Saqqara in Giza Governorate. It contains the first true pyramid in Egypt, the northern Pyramid of Sneferu, founder of the Fourth Dynasty. Within its limits, the site also includes the Bent Pyramid of Sneferu, the Pyramid of Amenemhat II, the Pyramid of Senusert III, and the Pyramid of Amenemhat III. This makes tourism one of the main economic resources for the city.
