The Palace and Museum of Abdin locates in Abdin Square nearby the Mosque of Abdin and close to Sharia El-Saliba. There was a palace with a beautiful garden in this area but Khedive Ismail demolished it to build another five hundred-room palace on the western style to be the residence of him and his family.
The palace still exists, but due to its wide size the government converted a part of it to a museum, while the remaining part is used for other purposes. A large number of pieces of art was found in the palace of the royal family including silver plates and arms, and all of which are displayed in the museum now. The garden of the Ismail's palace still preserves its beauty.
