The Gate of the palace of Mangak El Silihdar lies in the corner of Suq El Selah Street off El Darb El Ahmar and nearby El Rifaey Mosque. It is also close to the park of the Madrasa of Sultan Hassan. The Gate was established by Seif El Din Mangak El Silihdar who was known as the Sword Bearer and whose blazon carrying the sword appears clearly on that gate.
He has another complex that he established later in Bab El-Wazir cemetery. The dome of the gate is embarrassingly decorated with colored stones in zigzag patterns. The gate represents the Edge of Suq El-Selah Street and this area is still well known for its trade of metal works and copper and brass artifacts.
