One of the oldest Islamic monuments in the city of Damietta, the Zaweya El-Radwaniya Mosque was erected circa 1039 AH. It lies on the Nile banks and measures 280 meters square in size. Although very little is known about its founder and its exact construction date, there is a marble plate hung on a wall saying that it was renovated by Haj Radwan in 1039 AH. Although the mosque dates back to the Ottoman Period, it is distinguished with the Mamluk style.
