Port Said
is a governorate of
Egypt
located in the northeast of the country , on the bank of the
Suez
Canal , on the Mediterranean Coast . It is border with Ismailia Governorate from the south , North Sainai from the east , and
Damietta
from the west and covers about 1344 . 96 km . This location makes it one of the important trade points in Egypt , the linking point between the
Red Sea
and the Mediterranean Sea , and the gateway for the Suez Canal .
