El Menoufia is a governorate located on the Delta of the Nile with El Gharbia Governorate to its south, Cairo to its north. It joins El Qalyoubia and El beheira governorates in some parts at its border and covers about 2,543 km². El Menoufeiya is regarded as one of the most densely populated areas in Egypt and its capital is Shebin El-Kom City.
El Menoufeya comprises of a large number of cities, towns and villages including El Bagour, Ashmoun and Menouf and encloses a wide range of agricultural lands. Its major economic resources are mainly driven from agriculture. In this governorate, two prominent Egyptian figures were born; namely, Presidents Anwar Al Saddat and Hosni Mubarak.
