El Dakahlia is a governorate in the east of the Delta of the Nile that covers about 3,459 km². It locates in a very strategic location overlooking Damietta branch of the Nile River and the Mediterranean Sea coast and bordered with El Sharqiya Governorate from the east, El Gharbeya Governorate from the west and Damietta Governorate to the northwest. The capital of the governorate is El Mansura City and the national feast of it is 8th of February. The weather in this governorate is moderate throughout the year and the rate of rains is quite higher than that of Cairo.
