Atayif is available at special shops specialized in the sale of kunafa and atayif.
The best size is about 10 cms in diameter and 1/2 cm thick.

Stuff the center of the unfried side of atayif with 1 teaspoon of the mixed nuts, and fold, then press firmly to shape it as semicircle, till the dough slightly sticks. |

Now, you can either cook by frying in very hot oil on both sides until golden, or by baking in hot oven. |

If baking, arrange neatly cheek and jowl on a greased oven pan, brush one after the other with melted butter, then bake for about 15-20 minutes, until crisp and golden. |

Pour cold sugar syrub over atayif (whether fried or baked) till saturated then serve (warm or cold). |
