Atayif with Mixed Nuts


Ingredients
1 kg atayif (round pastry, similar to thick pancakes)  
2 cups sugar syrup  
2 cups mixed nuts  
Oil or butter  
Atayif is available at special shops specialized in the sale of kunafa and atayif. The best size is about 10 cms in diameter and 1/2 cm thick.
Preparation
Stuff the center of the unfried side of atayif with 1 teaspoon of the mixed nuts, and fold, then press firmly to shape it as semicircle, till the dough slightly sticks.
Now, you can either cook by frying in very hot oil on both sides until golden, or by baking in hot oven.
If baking, arrange neatly cheek and jowl on a greased oven pan, brush one after the other with melted butter, then bake for about 15-20 minutes, until crisp and golden.
Pour cold sugar syrub over atayif (whether fried or baked) till saturated then serve (warm or cold).
