The Bucheum is the burial place of Buchis Bulls, identified with Montu and worshipped in Hermonthis (Armant). It lies on the desert edge, north of the city of Armant. The earliest bull burial dates to Nectanebo II and the complex remained in use until the mid 4th century AD. In the region, extensive cemeteries of all epochs were found including the burial place of the Mother of Buchis cows.
