The Catholic Church of St. Francois de la Salle is located on Orabi St., the other main street that ran parallel to Sultan Hussein St., in the town of Ismailiya. It was built in 1930 during the works of digging the Suez Canal.
Unknown Soldier Memorial
On a high hill near Miriam Mountain (Gabal Mariam), the Unknown Soldier Memorial was erected in honor of the Egyptian soldiers who were victims of the World War 1(1914-1918). It was established 7 km south of the city of Ismailia, along the road of the Suez Canal. It comprises two obelisks behind two girls carrying an olive branch and a peace dove. The site of the memorial is a military area in which access is not permitted and can only be seen from a distance.
