Suez is a governorate in the east of Egypt. on the eastern bank of the Suez Canal and the Gulf of Suez of the Red Sea. It covers about 25,400km and its capital city bears the same name. It is bordered with Ismailia Governorate from the north, Red Sea from the south, South Sinai from the east, Cairo and Giza from the west. It is a place of a great history dating back to the ancient Egyptian times and religious value since it was one of the places where the Holy Family stopped at during their journey to Egypt. It comprises of five main districts including Suez and Feisal. The national day of the governorate is 24 of October that commemorates the great role of national resistance against the Israeli troops in 1973 war. Basically, the main economic resources for Suez Governorate are driven from the logistic services related to the Suez Canal, the petroleum refineries, gas industry and the quarries of limestone, clay, coal, petroleum, marble, and limestone. Therapeutic tourism attracts multitudes of visitors from every corner of the world into many places in the governorate, especially the new resorts of Ain El Sukhna and other monumental places such as Mohammed Ali Palace in Suez. The current prominent position of Suez is attributed to its Public Free zone that was constructed in 1975 and is located in two places: Port Tawfik and Asadeya and both of them overlooking the Suez Canal. Moreover the governorate is supplied with all the essential services of electricity and water supplies, telecommunication network and highways and railroads linking it with the other governorates. 

 

 

Suez City  

Suez City is the capital of the Suez Governorate that is regarded as one of the major ports in Egypt. It locates on the southern terminus of the Suez Canal and bordered with Ismailiya Governorate from the north, the Red Sea from the south, Cairo and Giza from the west. In the vicinity of the city stand two important free zones in Suez Governorate which are Port Ibrahim and Port Tawfik. In the past, the city was considered an important transition camp for the pilgrims to Mecca, and was renowned for aromatic spices trade.The city suffered a great deal of destruction during the Arab-Israeli wars of 1956, 1967 and 1973. However, it managed to restore its glory and became a prosperous city. Nowadays it is one of the major harbors in the whole world that supports about 10%of the whole world's trade. The main economic resources for the city are driven from the logistic industry, Petrol exporting, the petrochemical industries as well as the different services.

 

Faysal District

 

 

Faysal District is one of the major districts in Suez Governorate. It is called after King Faysal who established the first residential compound in the governorate after 1973 war. It encompasses a large number of villages and small towns including Yussuf El Sebaey Village, Mohamed Abdo Village.

 

 

El Ganayen

 

 

El Ganayen District is one of the main regions of the Suez Canal that covers about 164.5km². It is called in that name which means Gardens in Arabic because of the the wide range of agricultural lands in it. The main economic resource for the district is agriculture.

 

El Arbaain

 

 

El Arbaain District is one of the main divisions in Suez Governorate covering about 4.559km². It is a densely populated area that witnesses a wide range of developments and construction processes currently. It encloses a large number of villages and the government works hard for providing the inhabitants with essential health care, education, and telecommunication services.

 

Ataqa

 

Ataqa is one of the industrial zones in Suez Governorate that covers about 8827km². It encloses a large number of factories and mines including the Arabic Company for Oil Pipeline Sumed that provide most of the inhabitants of the district with job opportunities. Additionally, Ain Sukhna sulfuric water springs locates in one of its corners and this attracts a number of is one of tourists for visiting it. It is called in that name because there is a huge mountain in that name marking the western borders of Suez.
