Amada Temple is located about 180 kilometers south of Aswan and it is also one of the rescued temples from the waters of the Lake Nasser after the building of the High Dam. The building of the temple, dedicated to Amun-Re and Re-Horakhty, was begun by Thutmosis III and his son, Amenhotep II of the 18th Dynasty. It had later on some additions by Tuthmosis IV, Seti and Ramses II. The inscriptions in the temple, besides the traditional offering scenes, tell about the military campaigns of Amenhotep II, and Merneptah, the son of Ramses II.
