The Virgin Church locates in the district of Misr El Qadima (Old Cairo), south of the area of Qasr El Shame. It dates back to the 11th century . The great importance of this church is attributed to the Christians belief that the Holy Family stayed in this site in their journey. The interior plan of the church consists of a suroundinh high wall, a library, a basilica style building with entrance hall, nave, choir, wooden icnostasis and three sanctuaries.
