The Mosque of Al-Ghareeb (Ghareib) is located in Ghareeb District in the city of Suez. It dates back to the Fatimid Period. It is considered the main mosque in the whole governorate. The foundation of the mosque is attributed to the Muslim hermit Abdullah Al Ghareeb, a Fatimid leader who gained victory over the Qarmatians in 623 AD and restored the road of pilgrimage to Mecca through the Suez. People of Suez swarm to the mosque and visit the hermit’s mausoleum which lies inside it.
