Rommel Museum is located in the Island of Rommel, facing the city of Marsa Matrouh. The museum is a cave that contains some of the belongings of the German leader Rommel like his compass, overcoat, photographs, maps and clothes trunk. Also on display is a collection of military arms, munitions and plans dedicated by Rommel's son.
This cave was originally cut in the Roman Era to be a place in which grains were to be stored. Annually, the museum received a great number of visitors: Egyptians, Arabs, and foreigners. The museum gives an account of Al Alamein Battle and the World War II.
