Alexandria National Museum

Inaugurated in 2003, the modern National Museum of Alexandria is located in Tareeq al-Horreyya, near the city center, in a restored palace that once belonged to Al-Saad Bassili Pasha. The museum houses about 1800 objects that can give a glimpse into the history of Alexandria and its different periods. Built in 1926 in a white Italian style, the palace itself is worth visiting. The museum has a special section for mummies and objects from the underwater museum. The museum has also a replica of a tomb that contains a mummy and funerary equipment. Within its compound, it also has a lecture hall and an open air theatre.
