One of the oldest Islamic monuments in the city of Damietta , the Zaweya El-Radwaniya Mosque was erected circa 1039 AH . It lies on the Nile banks and measures 280 meters square in size . Although very little is known about its founder and its exact construction date , there is a marble plate hung on a wall saying that it was renovated by Haj Radwan in 1039 AH . Although the mosque dates back to the Ottoman Period , it is distinguished with the Mamluk style .
