This painted limestone slab was found among the ruins of the tomb of the royal family in Tell El Amarna . It depicts a common scene of adoration of Aten by the royal couple , Akhenaten and Nefertiti , and their daughters Meritaten and Maketaten .
Akhenaten is depicted in his customary posture wearing his short pleated shendit that sheathes his sighs and the blue crown with the uraeus serpent over his forehead and holding some lotus flower , symbol of resurrection , while praying for Aten . Behind the pharaoh , stands Queen Nefertiti wearing a huge crown with two plums and long transparent dress and a long wig while holding another collection of lotus flower . The two daughters of the royal couple are standing behind them as a sign for the family union . The rays of the solar disk are spread over the members of the royal family to provide them with power and life that guarantee the life for all creatures on earth .
The slab is decorated also with praiseworthy vertically carved hieroglyphic inscriptions and cartouches .
