Nephthys
was the daughter of
Geb
and Nut , the sister , and helper , of
Isis
and
Osiris
and the sister-wife of Seth . She was thought to be a protective goddess who provided protection to the dead in the same way she did with god Horus . Her amulet shows her wearing a headdress of the hieroglyph sign of her name , 'Nbt-hwt' . This amulet was usually placed on the mummy's chest or stomach .
