This collar with a scarab-shaped pendant was discovered in the tomb of Queen Ahhotep , the mother of king Ahmes and Kames . The pendant is admired for lapis lazuli inlays ornamenting it and the cartouche of Ahmes fixed between the goose-eye clasps of the scarab . This necklace was used as a piece of accessory and as an amulet as well since the scarab was a symbol for khbri , god of the morning rising sun and eternal rebirth .
