The most important traditional festival celebrated at
Luxor
is the Muled of Abu al-Haggag , one of the largest Muleds (holiday commemorating the birth of a person or venerated saint of the town) in Egypt . It is a celebration in honor of the patron saint of Luxor , Sheikh Abu Yousef al-Haggag of the 12th century . The Muled takes place around the Mosque of Abu al-Haggag , the oldest in the city , located in the northeast corner of the Temple of Luxor . It is a noisy celebration that lasts for five days during the third week before Ramadan .
