Ahhotep was the mother of Ahmes and Kames , great pharaohs in the 18th Dynasty and the conquerors of Hyksos . She played a great role in the war of liberation and this justifies the existence of many items that was rarely found in woman's tomb including boats , daggers , and other weapons .
These miniature boats were found among other treasures in the Tomb of Ahhotep . These boats were used for transporting goods and trade transactions between Egypt and other countries in the world .
This gold boat is a good example for the boat in the New kingdom with papyrus umbrella-shaped bow and stern . The board of the boat is adorned with some silver statues for the oarsmen and other members of the crew of the ship . There is also a seat adorned with cartouche of kames , Ahmes brother , on the board as well . Another silver boat with similar style of that gold one was placed on a wooden chariot with bronze wheels in the tomb .
