Tomb of Sarenput I

Sarenput I was the Governor of Elephantine and Overseer of the Priests of Satis during the reign of Senwosret I of the 12th Dynasty. The tomb consists of a columned court that has scenes on the rear walls depicting the deceased hunting and fishing with his dogs and his sandal-bearer. Then comes a hall with four columns where we can see scenes of daily life and the biography of the deceased. Like the tombs of the mastabas of the Old Kingdom, we find in the chamber, at the rear side of the tomb, a false door that was intended to permit the entrance of the 'BA' (The soul) into the tomb.
