The archeological site of the ruins of Dimai is situated about 8 kilometers south of Qasr el-Sagha and 45 kilometers from Kom Oshim, in El-Fayoum Governorate.
Once surrounded by mud-brick walls that now still have 10 meters high, the city of Dimai was also comprises: the remains of Neolithic settlement, some ruins of the Greco-Roman town of Soknopaiou Nesos and a sphinx road that ran from the Gate of Soknopaios down to a quay on the edge of an ancient lake. Also exist are the remains of two temples dedicated to Soknopaios (another form of Sobek, the crocodile god).
