Qus is one of the administrative centers in Qena Governorate that was known in eras as Ancient Apollinopolis Parv. It encloses some remains of Harwer Temple and a beautifully decorated mosque from the twelfth century. The importance of the city nowadays is attributed to the existence of the Project of producing paper products using the waste parts of Sugar cane. It is also regarded as a major trade point that witnesses many transactions with other countries such as Yemen and India and others. Most of the inhabitants are clever at craft of producing pottery pots from the local clay.
