Qena City is the capital of Qena Governorate and one of the major cities in Upper Egypt. It is located on the western bank of the Nile about 39 miles from Luxor and 57 miles from El Balyana. During the Greco- Roman period, it was called Kaine and it encloses a large number of monuments such as the remains of Hathor Temple in Dendera.
