Ataqa is one of the industrial zones in Suez Governorate that covers about 8827km². It encloses a large number of factories and mines including the Arabic Company for Oil Pipeline Sumed that provide most of the inhabitants of the district with job opportunities. Additionally, Ain Sukhna sulfuric water springs locates in one of its corners and this attracts a number of is one of tourists for visiting it. It is called in that name because there is a huge mountain in that name marking the western borders of Suez.
