Al Hammamia Cemetery lies near the village of Al Hammamia (in Al Badari city), almost 50 km south-east of the city of Assiut. In the cemetery, there is a number of tombs belonging to princes and rulers of the tenth Nome of Upper Egypt known of different epochs, especially from the Fifth Dynasty (2560 BC). The Hammamia Cemetery (also known as 'Kaw el Keber' or 'Qaw Al Kabeer') dates back to the reign of Userkaf and Sahura. It consists of a number of rock-cut tombs in the cliff face on the eastern bank of the Nile belonging to Monarchs or provincial governors. One can reach them via a stepped causeway from the village.
