Ancient Egyptians were always walking barefoot while carrying their shoes in their hands . Only on special occasions they were used to wear their shoes and there was a prominent post known as the "bearer of the royal sandals" .

This gold Sandal was found in the feet of the mummy of Tutankhamun placed in the gold Sarcophagus . It is formed in the shape of the fibres of the plant and it is supposed that they were dedicated for funerary use only . There were many other sandals and foot ware in the Tomb of Tutankhamun and most of which were made of Papyrus , rushes , and leather .
