This gold Falcon head is one of the pieces that were discovered in the archaeological site of El Kom El Ahmar in 1898 . It was a part of a complete statue for Horus , the sun god , which was placed in the temple that was placed in that area in the past . This statue was placed in front of another statue of the pharaoh who was regarded as the terrestrial manifestation of the sun god . This head is made of gold with copper strips and nails . Over the falcon's head , appear two long gold plumes and cobra over its forehead .
