El-Salloum is a city in the governorate of Matrouh , on the western borders with Libya . Mainly , Salloum is a Bedouin community and a cross-point that supplies both trucks and travelers between Libya and Egypt . During the Roman Period , it was named Baranis; and there are also some remains of a Roman settlement in the area . The city's major tourist attraction is the World War II Commonwealth war cemetery .
