El Mansura City is the capital of
El Dakahlia
Governorate on the eastern bank of
Damietta
Branch of the Nile and about 120 km away from Cairo . The city was called in that name which means the victorious because it was established by El Adel , Saladin brother , for celebrating the victory of Egyptian troops over the troops of Louis IX of France , during the Seventh Crusade .
Nowadays , El Mansura is one of the worth visiting places where one can find all sorts of amenities and comfort and enjoy good weather and natural beauty . The city is provided with all essential needs of health care , education and all the other services in addition to highly qualified hotels and apartments that are suitable for tourists of any foreign country .
The main economic resources for the city are trade , agriculture and the recently discovered natural gas while tourism represents a limited source of income because a limited number of tourist direct to El Mansura . On its land , one can find some places of great historical value such as Ibn Lukman House that is used now as El Mansura Museum , Mosque of El Muwafiq , El Shinnawi palace with its magnificent Italian style of decoration , and some remains of monuments
that date back to the Pharaonic and Greco- Roman eras .
