Carved in minute detail with most of the description realistically portrayed , this wooden model picturing a carpentry workshop is one of the most admired within the grave goods found in the Tomb of Meketra in El Deir el Bahari in Luxor . It dates back to early the Twelfth Dynasty . Meketra was a chancellor whose burial contained a great corpus of priceless miniature models representing the daily life and other various activities of ancient Egyptians at this era which ushered us to valuable information on how they had lived . Found by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1919-1920 , this wooden model shows a working place where everyone is busy participating in the making of wooden objects: a vivid scene depict workers (bald-headed or wearing black wigs) involved in sawing , smoothing or finishing panels , and creating fine mortices—all using hammers , axes , blades , drills , saws and chisels . The workshop is entered through a wooden half-open door at one of the corners .
