These two gold bracelets were found among a great corpus of grave goods belonging to king Psusennes I (the third ruler of the Twenty-first Dynasty) , in his intact tomb in Tanis . In the tomb were found significant treasures including gold funerary masks , coffins and numerous other items of precious jewelry . Around 26 bracelets and anklets were found on Psusennes' mummy , 10 on the right arm , 12 on the left , 2 above the knees , and 2 at the ankles .

The cloisonné technique was skillfully and masterly applied on the items which renders a piece highly admired among the treasures of Tanis . Decorating the piece of jewelry are lapis lazuli winged scarabs bearing with their front legs the sun disk . Alternating the scarabs' multi-colored wings are cartouches stating the name of the Son of Ra , "Aakheperre Selepenra" and that of the King of Upper and Lower Egypt , "Pasebakhaenniut Meryamun . "
