This belt is one of the funerary objects that were discovered in the Tomb of Queen Uret , the mother or pharaoh Sesostris III . It is a good example for the belts used during the Middle Kingdom and is made of small beads of carnelian , turquoise , gold , and lapis lazuli . Of specian interest in this belt are the gold cowry shell- shaped beads , amulet for increasing the female fertility in ancient Egypt .
