Ashmoun is one of the administrative centers of
El Menoufiya
Governorate that is bordered with
El Qalyoubia
from the east ,
Giza
from the west , Menouf and El Bagour cities from the north , and
El Qanater El Khairia
from the south . It is a densely populated area that is renowned for handmade carpet industry , and textile ginning that are regarded as the main source of income for most of the inhabitants .
Ashmoun is a city of a great history that date back to the ancient Egyptian eras , since its name is derived from the word Ash Amun which means" Beit AMun or Amun's House" . The most important monument in this city is the roman fortress on which El Umary Mosque which are regarded as the major tourist sites in the city .
