Al Qaim began his reign with a war . He sent a fleet to France and surrounded its southern coast , then , destroyed and burnt the French fleet . At the same time , he sent a fleet to invade Egypt , but Ikhshid (the governor of Egypt) defeated him .
During the last years of his reign , a civil war broke out and lasted for 7 years until the reign of the third Caliph , El Mansur . We know very little about El Mansur , but it was said that he was a very wise man .
